The Zzaarians - First Encounter

Briefing (handed out as people entered)

Earth is in danger of destruction. This can be prevented only if corrective action is taken almost immediately. The Zzarians have the ability to take this action. We do not.

Taking this corrective action is likely to cause the Zzarians significant losses. The Zzarians are in the process of deciding whether or not to take the corrective action.

This evening is your opportunity as a group to put forward a case for having the Zzarians take the corrective action needed to prevent the destruction of Earth.

An Earth inhabitant wearing a Zza's sweat shirt will act as a channel for the Zzarians hearing your case and also for answering simple questions regarding this matter. The channel will be open from 7:30pm to 9:15pm, August 25, 1999. In making their decision, the Zzarians will consider both the case you put forward and your interactions with each other.

The Groups' Case for Why The Zzaarians should Intervene

The following is a rough summary of the Zzarian's understanding of the case put forward for them to intervene.

There are many things about Earth that are of value and should not disappear. Many of these things could provide experiences for you in particular. Some of these are listed below:

• the natural beauty of Gaia. E.g. Death Valley, the sky, the moon, the trees, the view from the window.
• the diverse forms of animals on earth that have taken billions of years to evolve. E.g. Canadian geese, puppies, bunnies, mites. (You may not like us, but perhaps some of these other life forms are worth saving.)
• art. E.g. the jars of sand art, the art covering the wall at our meeting. Art surprises us and could surprise you too.
• other creations of man. E.g. Stonehenge (Unfortunately, it's been all down hill since then.)
• food. E.g. pizza, pepperoni, anchovies. (Most of us don't like anchovies, but maybe you will. John and Susan do.)
• plants. E.g. bananas, squash. (Some of us even try to smoke banana peels. We'll do anything to get high.)
• the human spirit. We are fellow spiritual creatures. We share the cosmic silence with you. Whenever we gather together, the human spirit is always there. We deal with more than we see. We are fascinated with spirit. (Although, some say the human spirit does not exist.)
• our shrine to you. I.e. Zzas Restaurant on Grand Ave.
• We have allies and advocates. E.g. the Ovarians (channeled by one of us at the meeting) said to give us a chance. (We even have a God.)

The Zzarian's Decision and Subsequent Actions

Based primarily on the meeting. The Zzarians decided to intervene and prevent the destruction of earth. The corrective action has been taken, and Earth is free of the danger referred to earlier. There were no Zzarian losses. The Zzarians took the action out of their own interest and do not consider that we are indebted to them.

While the Zzarians' found our case engaging, their positive decision was primarily based on the process by which the case came forth and the way we treated each other (including people who showed up "accidentally"). The Zzarians were particularly impressed that:

• everyone participated
• interruptions were handled with concern for those interrupting
• a mood of lightness and exploration was pervasive
• we were very humorous

About the Zzarians

The Zzarians have concluded that our path is so different from theirs that revealing more about themselves will not cause us any problem. Hence they are willing to provide the following about themselves:

1. They are an ancient race, billions of years old.
2. Their presence in the universe is primarily spiritual. They just barely have any physical existence at all.
3. They have no wars or disputes.
4. Their role in the universe is primarily observation.
5. They are fascinated by our humor and would like to learn more about it.
