How To Play FateRole

Preparation

Here's the preparations needed for a game of FateRole:

• The Gamemaster (GM) asks the player to describe his player character (PC).
• The player describes his PC.
• The GM then thinks up an opportunity for the PC for this adventure.
• The GM also determines the possible results and how the GM will determine the actual result. The choice may be based on the actions of the PC or on anything else.

Actual Play

The GM describes the initial situation. Then the following sequence is repeated until the end of the adventure:

• The player says what the PC does in response to the current situation.
• The GM says what happens and what the new situation is.

Ending The Game

At some point in the sequence, the GM chooses the actual result in the manner decided in the preparation. The GM then:

• guides the game to the result,
• finds ways to clean up any loose ends,
• and finally declares the game over.

Comment

The easiest way to learn to play, is by playing with someone who knows how. But if that's not available, the description above contains enough information to play.
