sig-beer-east-bay meets whenever the drinkers feel like it at whatever beer establishment they feel like. The purpose? To enjoy each others company, to consume beer (if you wish), and perhaps to even talk about system admininistration, Perl, and whatever. At one time, it received strong support from certain participants of Oakland.pm who may or may not wish to be named.

sig-beer-east-bay is sort of like sig-beer-west in San Francisco. However, sig-beer-west actually meets regularly while sig-beer-east-bay does not. sig-beer-west was inspired by the beer SIG of dc-sage in Washington, D.C.

As Heinrich Hammerslosh apparently said: "Drink enough beer and you'll discover that Perl and beer are indistinguishable."
