We often view art as being encapsulated, for example, by a frame in the case of a painting. Is this necessary or could art be amorphous and pervasive?
We speak of art objects (or "objects of art"), referring to drawings, paintings, sculptures, musical compositions, etc. But are paintings, sculptures, etc. objects. If they are, in what sense? If not, what are they?
We don't generally speak of computer languages, relationships and most of what goes on in our lives as art. Why not?
What is the essence of what we refer to as art? Does this essence only show up in "objects of art". If not, could this have implications for partnerships, representative government and all aspects of our lives?
