The Party

two suns

Once upon a time
at the beginning of a new era
  on the very first evening
    of a lovely summer
      with splendid flowers
      and rich green plants
      and fragrant breezes
many happy years ago
in a land of giant forests
  and tranquil lakes
  and dry meadows
    on a lucky planet
      with two fine suns
      one red, one blue
    in an outer galaxy
      near the edge of space
  among a joyous people
    who were always happy
because they loved what life brought
    and loved each other well,
THERE WAS A PARTY!

People came from all over the country to nearby rivers or lakes or oceans. And people came from other planets and galaxies because they sensed there would be a party.

Oh, the air was so fresh and the sun so warm, and there was a cool breeze to blow the blankets of clouds past.

Oh, they ate oranges and pomegranets and apples and blueberries. And they danced in ovals and they sang folk songs, some sad, and some happy, some gentle and some raucous. It was a day to remember with bands playing and skywriters writing jokes in the sky in technocolr and making cloud sculptures.

And they drank pink lemonade and listened to the music of their two suns singing their love for their planets and their silver galaxy. And they danced a gentle dance in rhythm with these songs.

Oh, they went swimming and they climbed trees. And they rode zebras and giraffes. And they played games and listened to records. And they played flutes and banjoes.

And whenever they wanted to, they would stop and eat blow pops or cake and ice cream which might be chocolate or vanilla, peppermint or postachio.

Oh they loved their planet of Popodopolus. None o them ever grew old, but instead they all lived over 2000 years. And they loved each other.

So they danced in circles and squares and ovals, and they ran along the beaches together. And they held hands and sang in harmony with the suns, singing of their love of the suns and the planets and the sky and the plants and animals of the universe.

They sang for a long time.
