Two True Stories about Clare
Many years ago, Clare lived in Mountain View, California, She was a single parent with a limited income and had two small kids - Donovan and Krystal. She wanted her kids to spend time with her parents in Ohio. So, Clare made some preparations, gathered up her two small kids, went down to the freeway, and hitchiked across the country to Ohio - successfully. Later she did it again. [Clare was guided to do this and did it with a full trust in the universe. She wishes that you not take this as a recommendation to do likewise.]
For a number of years Clare lived in Santa Barbara. It's a nice area and she was able to exhibit in local galleries, and be near Ojai, where Krishnamurti, whom she greatly admired, lived.
I took a flight down there to visit her and she very kindly gave me my favorite of her paintings - a beautiful desert scene of earthy colors and a feeling of spiritual anticipation. It wasn't practical for me to take it back in the plane, but that was no problem - Clare brought it to me where I lived in San Francisco. To be sure it didn't get damaged in transit, she took off the protective glass before leaving and installed new protective glass just before delivering it.
I had indicated a strong interest in her work and a desire to help her become known. And Clare wanted to have paintings in San Francisco available to be seen. So Clare asked me to make a down payment on another painting that I loved (of Einstein) which she would use to rent an airplane to fly several paintings (including the one I would purchase) to San Francsico. I agreed and she did indeed rent a plane and fly up with her paintings despite being terrified of flying in a small plane. The pilot, a friend who flew her for free, had never flown into such a large airport, and the plane was badly buffetted by heavy winds when it got near the airport. But the paintings and Clare arrived successfully.
These two stories bring out certain things I know about Clare from years of connection with her. She is deeply committed to the people around her and to her art. And she creates what she deeply desires.
